Trucking Along...

Wow, I can't beleive how long it has been since my last post.  School started back so I am finding it hard to take the time to post.  Here is my latest shot.  I love these trucks and seen a complete replica setup.  I had to capture it as soon as I seen it!

365 Project

Wow!  I am having so much fun with photography this year so far.  I have been picking up on Photoshop and experimenting a lot with the software. I have also began enjoying and using my Flickr account.  I did not realize that there were so many groups on Flickr.  I decieded to join one of the groups called, "365: the 2010 edition."  Basically, the group is made up of thousands of people posting a new picture each day for the next 365 days.  It so neat to see what ideas people come up with for their daily picture.  I know this group has helped me stay active with my photography and my mind is constantly thinking about what I can take a picture of next to post to the site.  It keeps your imagination active trying to get that different shot to post.

Here are a few of the pictures I have posted so far:

Man's Best Friend

I am so not a big dog person. In fact, big dogs scare me to death.  We personally have a miniature schnauzer and love her, but the big dogs I am always worried they are going to snap at you.

However, I made a new best friend tonight.  The Hurst family have a pit bull and he is the most lovable baby you have seen.  Most of the night he would sneak over to my chair while no one was watching and quietly beg for a good scratch behind the ears.  Caught him in action:

A Peaceful Day...

Wow... every time I look at this picture, I can't help but to think how awesome our God is!

All that and then some...

We went to Disney's Animal Kingdom for the new year and I shot this picture of my oldest son Austin.  He thought he was all of that and a bag of chips when he was posing for this picture.  Love the tough guy pose as he has a lollipop in his hand!

Skulls, oh my!

I couldn't resist taking this picture!  We were in a gorilla exhibit at Disney's Animal Kingdom and my boys saw this crate with three skulls on top.  They saw a brother and sister making fun of the skulls so they had to give it a try...  See the results below!

Here kitty, kitty...

Let's be honest, I have never really been a cat person, but this cat had some awesome looking eyes.  We celebrated Christmas this year at my brother's house and when I was sitting on the floor miserably stuffed from Christmas dinner I kept hearing something under the coffee table.  I decided to take a peek and what did I see staring back at me?  A pair of the brightest yellow eyes I ever seen.  It was my sister-in-law's kitten.  Koko was playing with her toy mouse and was surprised to see me peeking under the table with a rather large looking device that temporarily blinded her.  Let's just say this was the only picture I got of Koko before a black ball of fur went running across the room to safety...

Anticipation of Christmas Morning...

It was Christmas morning and everyone was excited about opening their Christmas gifts ... especially the little ones.  However, we all know that mama has always been the only one with the authority to give the "all clear" signal to begin opening Christmas presents.  We always have to wait on mama to get everything ready and picture perfect before we can begin the festivities of clawing away at the beautifully wrapped boxes that hold the goodies that we have been waiting for all year!
I know that many of you are thinking this picture is kind of weird, but I feel that I have caught the anticipation of a child waiting on mama to say, "Now who's ready to open their Christmas gifts?"

A Blog... Finally!

Hello world!  I have always wanted to start my own blog.  The problem was, I could never think of anything creative or interesting enough to blog ... until today!  I have decided to blog about my photography and display some of my work.
You see, I have had a strong interest in photography since my early childhood years.  I have always loved to take pictures and here recently I have been working hard at digital photography and the wonderful world of Photoshop.  I have taken a few classes from one of the best photographers I know and she has helped advance my skills tremendously.
I hope you enjoy this blog and please email me with any suggestions or comments.
Sincerely,
Chad Wicker
